June’s Puppet Slamwich is a Spit-fired Spirit Sub.  Puppeteers light the primordial fire and take you on a shadowy trip to the far reaches of the human spirit and far off lands! Philadelphia’s Mr. & Mrs. Magoo's Traveling Trash Puppet Circus plummet into the collective unconscious with “Professor Jibber-Jabber and His Mind Resonator Combobulator,” an inter-active multi-media performance including light, sound, video, shadow and hand puppetry, live-action performance, clowning and ballet!   Kevin Sherry ferries us through  “Turtle Island” on the back of the Earth’s loneliest beast of burden.  Z Smith returns as this town’s most charming clown in “Pepito’s Big Date,” capturing the hearts of all while wooing one on a quest for love. Charm City’s Katherine Fahey presents a shadow puppet crankie about a young girl's inner questions about war and the universe, inspired (and performed live) by ellen cherry's song, "Pickett's Charge". Better Waverly’s Porch Puppets gathers us around the overhead projector for a row of campfire tales, including “Foreign Lands”. With all of those shadows dancing on the walls, it’s a good thing we’ll have Baltimore’s “Brass Disaster”, the Barrage Band Orchestra’s keeping the fire blazing all night with their Balkan, New Orleans second line and punk covers! Come gather round, folks!

March's Puppet Slamwich is a Horseradish Surprise, sure to bring tears to your eyes! Puppeteers plumb the depths of human experience, from the ribald and erotic, to the poignant and the quixotic. The evening features the celebrated Philadelphia-based collective Puppetyranny premiering "The Sad Show." Their new act "utilizes montage video, musical reenactments, and cardboard shenanigans in an effort to locate the central tear ducts and pull the strings of the heart. Nostalgia and the collective experience will be relentlessly manipulated."

DC collective Wit's End Puppets takes us on a fateful quest through unknown lands of debris in "Flight to the Scraplands," employing hand- and tabletop puppets and found objects.

Thanks Kevin Sherry for the awesome poster!

On March 9th, 10th and 11th Quest Fest and Theatre Project present the not to be missed Shadow Puppet Show, Alonzo’s Lullaby. Gorgeous, hand-manipulated cut outs by Baltimore’s own visual alchemists, Nana Projects, with original music by singer-songwriter ellen cherry and Nicholas Sjostrom, tell a tale of madness, passion and intrigue inspired by the 1918 Hagenback-Wallace Circus train wreck.

January’s Puppet Slamwich is a Foot Long Sub, stuffed and stacked with so many acts, it’s enough to feed a small family! Hosted by the clown team of Pepito and Pumpernickel, the evening features the Brooklyn based Ragdoll Engine, a collective of dancers and electronic musicians, who will perform “Love in the Age of Junk.” Disclaiming, “We don’t really do puppets puppets, we do wacky performance with objects,” we replied, “Bring it on!” From the Brooklyn streets to the Ivy Leagues, the Princeton Puppet Peoplewill debut “Not Quite Snow White, Starring Rose Red,” a marionette production that turns an old tale on its head. UnSaddest Factory co founder Anna Fitzgerald returns from the Master in Puppet Arts program in Connecticut, to perform three new pieces of ‘string’ theory. Charm City’s inimitable La Hostess of the 14 K Cabaret presents gloomy chansons about love and death, Black Cherry Puppet Theater unveils a marionette dance and Towson theater artist Eric Avery casts a spell in Object Theater!
